New Jersey State Police are investigating a deadly motor vehicle accident that occurred early this morning on Interstate 80 in Bergen County. The crash, reported at 3:08 a.m. near milepost 68 in Teaneck Township, involved a Honda passenger vehicle traveling eastbound.
State Police officials said a preliminary investigation suggests that the driver of the Honda, identified as 40-year-old Mr. Julio Brito from Hasbrouck Heights, lost control of the vehicle.
The car veered off the roadway to the right and crashed into a concrete barrier.
Brito sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Tragically, the passenger in the vehicle, Mr. Richard Bahamonte, 38, from Hillside, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision.The accident has sparked an ongoing investigation by the NJ State Police, with no further details currently available.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers present on the road, especially on major highways like Interstate 80.
