Somerset County officials announced the arrest of Gary J. Babey, 60, Hillsborough, in relation to possessing and distributing explicit images of minors in the Township of Hillsborough.
Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart stated that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) notified the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office of an apparent upload of explicit images of minors.
An investigation was thereafter initiated by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations/Computer Crimes Unit.
The investigation revealed that Babey was suspected of sending numerous explicit images of minors to another individual.
Acting Prosecutor Taggart stated that as a result of this investigation, on Monday, May 2, Babey was arrested at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and charged with, Distribution of Explicit Images of Minors and Possession of Explicit Images of Minors.
Babey was lodged in the Somerset County Jail where he will remain pending a detention hearing in this matter.
