High-Speed Chase Leads to 3-Year Sentence for Plainfield Man in Somerset County

Edwin O. Dimas-Guerrero, 22, from Plainfield, has been sentenced to three years in prison following a high-speed chase that endangered lives in Warren Township and Watchung Borough.AdSomerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Watchung Borough Chief of Police Scott Anderle announced the sentence imposed by Judge Jonathan W. Romankow, J.S.C., in Camden federal court.

On October 24, 2022, Dimas-Guerrero's reckless driving in a modified 2019 Dodge Charger sparked a series of events leading to his arrest.

Initially spotted in Watchung, he evaded police, driving at dangerous speeds and even directly towards police vehicles. His maneuvers caused significant damage to police cars and private property.

Dimas-Guerrero pleaded guilty to charges including second-degree Eluding, fourth-degree Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and third-degree Criminal Mischief.

He has been ordered to pay $18,807.94 in restitution for the damages caused.

This sentence reflects the severity of Dimas-Guerrero's actions, highlighting the risks of such reckless behavior and the commitment of Somerset County's law enforcement to public safety.
