High-Speed Chase Ends in Hillside After Suspect Steals Police Vehicle in Secaucus

Early this morning, a suspect involved in a felony incident in Secaucus led police on a high-speed chase after commandeering a police vehicle.NinosThe pursuit, involving Secaucus Police, reportedly reached speeds exceeding 100 mph.

The incident began shortly before 2:40 a.m. when police engaged in a foot pursuit on Secaucus Road with the suspect.

During the situation, the assailant jumped into a police vehicle and sped away, leading officers on a chase that barreled up Route 1&9 toward Newark.

The chase came to a halt when the vehicle was found abandoned at the intersection of Bond Street and West Mertz Avenue in Hillside.

Following the chase, officers searched the neighborhood extensively using drones and a K9 unit to locate the suspect. Despite their efforts, no arrests had been made by 3:45 a.m.

The ongoing investigation is being handled by Secaucus Police, with assistance from neighboring jurisdictions.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they continue to search for the suspect.
