My family and friends in Newark and the broader North Jersey region are bracing for a soggy day ahead as rain showers dominate the forecast. The day began with a steady drizzle, setting the tone for what National Weather Service meteorologists predict will be a prolonged period of precipitation.
With concerns particularly focused on the late afternoon and evening hours, heavy rainfall is anticipated between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.
This period may pose challenges for commuters during the evening rush hour as the downpour intensifies.
Outside right now in neighboring Kearny, NJ, temperatures remain relatively mild, hovering around 55 degrees in some areas and offering little respite from the damp conditions.
Throughout the day, NWS forecasters said to expect overcast skies and occasional breaks of heavier rainfall, with a high near 62 degrees.
Breezy conditions accompany the rain, with south winds reaching speeds of 13 to 21 mph, gusting up to 34 mph.
As the day progresses into Wednesday night, showers may persist, accompanied by the possibility of thunderstorms before tapering off around 1 a.m.
Some storms could bring gusty winds and heavy rain, urging caution for those venturing outdoors. Remember to carry an umbrella and exercise caution while navigating wet roads and sidewalks.
