North Jersey residents are waking up to a mild 54 degrees at 4:30 a.m., with light rain setting the stage for what promises to be a stormy and wet Wednesday.A significant weather system is moving into the region, bringing periods of heavy rain, strong winds, and the potential for thunderstorms, making for a gloomy day.
According to the National Weather Service, rain will persist throughout the day, with the heaviest downpours expected in the afternoon.
Thunderstorms are possible after 7 a.m., some of which could produce intense rainfall. Winds will strengthen as the day progresses, with gusts reaching 50 to 60 mph, adding to the challenges of an already messy weather day.
Despite the stormy conditions, temperatures will remain unseasonably warm, reaching a high near 64 degrees.
By Wednesday night, rain will continue before tapering off around midnight, with a chance of lingering showers until 2 a.m. The rain could be heavy at times before temperatures drop to a low of around 35 degrees.
Residents are advised to prepare for flooding in low-lying areas, secure outdoor objects, and exercise caution when traveling in gusty winds and reduced visibility.
Stay safe and dry, North Jersey!
