Heatwave Continues in Newark, North Jersey Region with Unhealthy Air Quality, High Humidity

Newark

Residents in Newark and the North Jersey Region are starting their week under challenging weather conditions as Monday brings extremely high temperatures and unhealthy air quality levels.VaccineThe city is experiencing 78 degrees with high humidity, making for a muggy and uncomfortable atmosphere.

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts a mostly sunny day with a high near 92 degrees but it will feel like 105.

However, the heat index could soar as high as 98 degrees by midday, intensifying the oppressive conditions. A calm wind in the morning will become a southeast breeze at 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon, offering little relief from the heat.

Tonight, NWS forecasters say the area will see patchy fog after midnight, transitioning into mostly cloudy skies with a low of around 76 degrees.

As summer is in full swing, residents are advised to take precautions if they must be outdoors.

To cope with high temperatures and poor air quality, people should stay hydrated, seek shade, and spend as much time as possible in air-conditioned environments.
