My friends and family in Newark and the rest of North Jersey are bracing for another scorching day with temperatures soaring into the 90s.

While many are escaping the heat by heading to the Jersey shore, those staying in the Newark region should prepare for a steamy Labor Day.

National Weather Service meteorologists say the day includes a slight chance of sprinkles between 8 a.m. and noon, but overall, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 92 degrees.

The humidity is at 71%, making the heat feel even more intense. Heat index values could reach as high as 95.

NWS forecasters say the wind is expected to be calm in the morning, becoming northwest at 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

After a relatively mild summer, the sudden spike in temperatures comes just as thousands of Newark students are returning to school from their summer break.

With temperatures expected to reach around 95 degrees, it's essential for residents to take precautions against the heat and stay hydrated as this heat wave continues.

Residents are advised to stay updated with weather alerts on RLS Media by clicking HERE 24 hours a day.
