My friends and family in Newark are waking up to a steamy Saturday morning. Temperatures are already at 77 degrees and expected to soar.Ad

To make matters worse, The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the area, warning of 'real feel' temperatures reaching between 97 to 103 degrees, lasting until 7 p.m. this evening.

Despite heavy rains on Friday evening, which caused flooding and transformed streets into rivers across northern New Jersey, the thick humidity persists.

Today's weather is set to mirror yesterday's, with the likelihood of storms increasing, particularly after 4 p.m. Showers and thunderstorms are most likely to occur mainly after 5 p.m.

NWS forecasters say the day will also see patchy fog before 9 a.m., transitioning to partly sunny skies with a high near 91 and heat index values as high as 99.

Tonight, the region can expect continued showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m., followed by mostly cloudy conditions with a low around 73.

Residents are advised to stay cool and hydrated amidst the challenging weather conditions.
