HEADS UP NEWARK: Expected Rain, Snow May Slow Monday Morning Commute

Newark

Newark Public Safety officials are reporting that rain expected to begin tonight -Sunday- may cause delays during the Monday morning commute.

According to a statement released by Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, rain will likely continue into tomorrow, then will begin before 3 a.m. followed by a chance of snow after 5 a.m.

Director Ambrose said snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

"Because motorists can become stranded by driving through flooded streets and high water, drivers are asked to avoid these locations and to use alternative routes. I discourage residents from traveling through any streets that are flooded, have high water or are believed to be flooded, Director Ambrose said.

Special attention should be given to unsecured outdoor furniture, awnings, refuse and building materials.
