HEADED TO WORSHIP: Winter’s Chill Returns to Newark After Brief Spring Tease

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

The unseasonably warm temperatures that gave residents a taste of spring on Saturday have quickly faded, making way for a return to winter’s icy grip.

As Newark and the North Jersey region wake up to frigid conditions on this Sunday morning, residents heading out for early worship services will want to bundle up.

The warm coats, hats, gloves, and scarves should remain within reach, as the cold temperatures will persist throughout the day.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny but brisk, with a high near 34 degrees.

Wind chill values will make it feel between 10 and 20 degrees, thanks to northwest winds blowing at 11 to 14 mph, with gusts reaching as high as 25 mph.

Tonight, temperatures will drop even further, with partly cloudy skies and a low around 21 degrees.

After a brief flirtation with spring, winter is back in full force—so dress in layers and stay warm, New Jersey!
