Officials at the New Jersey Cheerleading and Dance Coaches Association has awarded The Harrison Tide Recreation Cheerleading group a state championship on Saturday.
The all-day event happened at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton where cheerleaders from around the state began competition in multiple categories and age groups starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. according to NJ State dance officials.
The following is a statement released by Harrison Blue Tide Cheerleader officials on their Facebook page:
"Our Steel Blue Blackout Girls are not only Back-to-Back State Champions but for the 2nd year in a row, they were the highest scoring team at the state competition!
The team was provided a victory escort from the Harrison Police Department then praised by Mayor James Fife and the entire Town Council.
