HAPPENING NOW NEWARK: Two-Alarm Warehouse Fire Burns in Newark's Ironbound Section

Newark City officials are checking to monitor air quality around the scene of a raging two-alarm fire that is tearing through a warehouse in the city's Ironbound section at this time.

According to preliminary reports, fire ripped through a building that's located in the vicinity of 256 Pacific Street at around 1:25 p.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they immediately encountered thick smoke and flames coming from the building.

Crews struck a second alarm as fire began to extend outside of the building.

One firefighter was evaluated for minor injuries but there are no injuries reported at this time according to reports.

Crews have not placed the blaze under control as of 2:15 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
