Hackensack Man Ate 30 Bags of Heroin Before Being Arrested in Paramus

Two Hackensack men suspected of theft led Paramus police on foot chase as one of them ate 30 bags of heroin.

According to police, officers spotted a suspicious pickup truck pull out from behind the Route 17 Petco store at approximately 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. 

When police ran the vehicle's plates the car back stolen out of Rochelle Park, according to police.

Police said, once officers turned their sirens on the suspects, later identified as Robert Kwiatkowski, 52, of Wayne, and Michael Pelissier, 42, of Hackensack, fled on foot. 

Kwiatkowski and Pelissier were apprehended a short time later, according to police. 

Pelissier reportedly told police that he had just swallowed 30 bags of heroin.

Once police searched the stolen vehicle they found several bundles of heroin and hypodermic needles as well as large spools of copper wire, power tools and hand tools.

Pelissier was transported to Bergen Regional Medical Center to have the heroin bags removed while Kwiatkowki was booked and remanded to Bergen County Jail on $5,000 bail.

Both men were charged with receiving stolen property, possession of heroin and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Pelissier was also charged with eluding police.
