A Hackensack resident has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of aggravated sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a minor, according to a statement released by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that 45-year-old Jose F. Fajardo was taken into custody on December 16.

The arrest resulted from a collaborative investigation between the Prosecutor’s Office, under Chief Matthew Finck, and the Hackensack Police Department, led by Chief Michael Antista.

The investigation began on December 13, 2024, when the Hackensack Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit about allegations of past sexual misconduct involving a minor.

Authorities discovered that Fajardo had engaged in explicit contact with the minor on multiple occasions in Hackensack, NJ.

Following the investigation, Fajardo was arrested in Paramus, NJ, and formally charged with aggravated sexual contact and multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

Prosecutor Musella acknowledged the efforts of the Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department in pursuing this case.
