Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of Justis A. Oliver, 27, of Hackensack, on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Endangering The Welfare of a Minor.
According to authorities, on Jan. 20th, the Newark Police Department received information that, while in Hackensack, Oliver had engaged in sexual activity with a minor under the age of thirteen. As a result of that information and an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department, warrants were issued for Oliver on Feb. 1st.
Officials say after multiple attempts to locate and speak with Oliver, he was arrested on Feb. 15th in Hackensack.
Police charged Oliver with one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault and one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Minor.
Following his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Feb. 16th Oliver was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing today.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
