Paterson Police are investigating a shooting that injured a person in a section of the city on Thursday night.
According to police, a ShotSpotter Device activated in the vicinity of North 1st Street and Haledon Avenue, sending police to the scene to investigate around 9 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a male suspect running from the scene, which initiated a foot pursuit.
Police say they captured the suspect and recovered a weapon during the chase.
While police checked for evidence and victims at the shooting scene, police said officials at St. Joseph's Hospital alerted them that a male gunshot victim entered the emergency room suffering non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
