Police officials in Newark are investigating a carjacking that occurred in the city's West Ward Saturday.
The early morning armed encounter happened shortly before 3:50 a.m. near 322 Grove Street.
Officers were dispatched to the scene after officials received reports of a carjacking in progress across the street from the Newark Jewish Cemetery.
Units arrived and found the victim who reported that the suspect pointed a gun and stole their 2008 Honda Santa Fe.
Officials say the vehicle has Pennsylvania license plates and is burgundy.
There were no physical injuries reported.
