Shooters unloaded a barrage of bullets on a street in Newark's South Ward that had residents in the neighborhood confined to the yards of their homes as they engaged in outdoor activities with family and friends on Wednesday night.
According to preliminary reports, male suspects arrived in the 200 block of Renner Avenue and began to fire multiple rounds at unidentified males at that location.
Police arrived at the scene and taped off the Renner Avenue from Schuyler to Lyons Avenue where a male was observed sprinting toward Beth Israel Hospital.
Residents at several barbecues say they were not allowed to leave for several hours due to the crime scene investigation.
There were no reports of fatalities at this time.
