Police in Paterson are on the search for a gunman who fired over two dozen shots on a street in the city Friday morning.
According to preliminary reports, a ShotSpotter activation alerted police of gunfire in the vicinity of Ryle Avenue and West Broadway at approximately 3 a.m. where officers arrived to find evidence that a shooting occurred, but after a search of the area, no victims were found.
Detective collected 25 shell casings at the scene of the shooting according to authorities.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
