A man was critically injured on Friday night after being shot in the face while answering a knock on his apartment door in the 20's block of Grant Avenue.
Preliminary reports indicated that the violent incident unfolded around 10 p.m. when the victim went to respond to a knock at his front door.
Authorities are currently unsure why the shooter targeted this particular residence and individual. The suspect, described as a 6-foot-tall black male, remains at large.
The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the face, was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center in critical condition.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has been notified of the shooting, and an active investigation into the motive behind the attack is ongoing.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and law enforcement is appealing to the public for any information that may assist in identifying and apprehending the suspect responsible for this violent assault.
