A ShotSpotter device is credited for alerting police of a broad daylight shooting in Newark's Central Ward Wednesday morning.
It happened around 9:45 a.m. near the intersection of 14th Avenue and Bergen Street.
Police arrived at the location and found several shell casings, but no victims were found while cops canvassed the neighborhood.
The incident placed some summer session school buildings in a shelter-in-place status while officers investigated and searched the area for possible suspects.
The suspect fled the scene and is at large.
