An armed suspect fired over a half dozen rounds at a man outside a business on Route 1&9 in Elizabeth Saturday morning. .
It happened at the Wawa in the 500 block of Spring Street around 4:50 a.m.
Police arrived at the scene and marked off multiple shell casings after they found the victim struck in his knee in front of the business.
The victim was transported to University Hospital in Newark and is expected to recover. Police say managers closed the store, while police conducted the investigation.
Elizabeth City Spokeswoman Ruby Contreras said the incident began inside the story and appeared to have involves a fight before the shooting.
“The victim is uncooperative”, Contreras said.
No other injuries were reported and the motive for the shooting is under investigation.
