Officials for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that they are looking into a savage attack via shooting that left a man dead on a street in East Orange overnight.
According to a brief statement released Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly, the overnight shooting occurred on Shepard Avenue sending police to the scene where they found a male victim struck by gunfire at that location.
Medical personnel pronounced the unidentified dead a short time later.
Chief Fennelly could not immediately confirm the motive for the shooting nor would he release the identity of the victim and his purpose for being in the neighborhood where the vicious 'attack' occurred.
"We are conducting an active and ongoing investigation," Chief Fennelly said.
