Police in Newark are conducting a shots fired investigation that had a gunman fire shots in a neighborhood late last night.
It happened just before 11 p.m. -in the 200 block of 4th Street- where several police officers scrambled to the scene after they received reports of shots fired and possible victims.
Units arriving at that location requested EMS after finding a woman bleeding from the face from an unknown injury.
Medical personnel who arrived at the scene determined that the woman was not struck by gunfire but fell to the ground when she and another female attempted to run from the scene during the incident.
The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries according to preliminary reports.
Police searched the area for gunshot victims, but after a canvass of the area, no one was ever found.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
