Passaic County authorities are actively searching for a suspect following a disturbing early morning shooting in a Paterson neighborhood.According to police, the incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday at 603 East 23rd Street.
The shooting was initially detected by a ShotSpotter device, which alerted the police to approximately 13 rounds of gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and confirmed the presence of shell casings. In response to the incident, Paterson police have placed hospitals throughout the region on high alert for potential gunshot victims walking in.
As of 4:40 a.m., no injuries have been reported. The suspect responsible for the gunfire has fled the area and remains at large.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
