Gunman Fired A Half Dozen Bullets at Victim on Rose Terrace in Newark

Authorities in Newark are actively searching for a suspect who fired several gunshots at a man in a neighborhood Saturday night, leaving the victim in serious condition.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Rose Terrace and Avon Avenue.

Police responded to the area after a ShotSpotter device, designed to detect gunfire, was activated around 289 Avon Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was immediately transported to University Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

While canvassing the scene, police recovered approximately six shell casings near a graveyard in the vicinity.

No other injuries were reported, and the suspect fled the scene.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward as the shooter remains at large.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for the shooting.
