Late night gunfire erupted in Irvington causing serious injuries to one person according to authorities.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Chestnut Avenue and Paine Avenue sometime at around 11:30 p.m. where several arriving units found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the face.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital in serious but stable condition according to early morning reports.
Police are looking for a vehicle that is believed to be a dark colored jeep wagon that was occupied by a black male suspect who was armed with a gun.
A spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that the victim's injuries are non-fatal as of 7 a.m.
The shooting is under investigation by the Irvington Police Department.
