There is a shots fired investigation underway in Newark's South Ward as police attempt to find the suspect who fired several shots on a street during the overnight hours.
Reports of shots fired sent police to the teens block of Wainwright Street at approximately 4:10 a.m. where officers canvassed the area and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but there were no injured victims located according to preliminary reports.
Police found a vehicle struck by bullets during their search for evidence of the neighborhood.
A light-colored vehicle was observed speeding away from the scene immediately after the shooting.
The motive remains under investigation.
