Police in Elizabeth are searching for a suspect wanted for a shooting that caused injuries in a section of the city Saturday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, the shooting happened around 3:17 a.m. in the vicinity of 901 Elizabeth Avenue.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound in his leg.
Police say the victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
Authorities canvassed the area for evidence and other possible victims, but no other injuries were reported.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
Police say the recent shooting marks the second person struck by gunfire in Elizabeth in less than 12 hours.
At approximately 4:00 p.m. Friday, a woman suffered non-fatal injuries after gunfire struck her near a daycare center on Magnolia Avenue.
No arrests have been made in either incident.
