Authorities in Union County are looking into the motive for a shooting that sent a person to the hospital Tuesday.
The broad-daylight shooting happened around 12:20 p.m. near 1270 Virginia Street.
Police say gunfire rang out in the community, sending officers to the scene to investigate.
According to the investigation, several units arrived and found a male struck by gunfire.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital in Newark for treatment while police checked the area of evidence and additional victims.
Police believe the suspect fired in the direction of the victim, then fled the scene in a newer model Camry.
There were no other injuries reported.
