Police checked several hospitals in the region for possible victims after gunfire rang out in a Jersey City neighborhood overnight.
Reports of shots fired sent police to the 50's block of Danforth Avenue where arriving police officers canvassed the scene and found evidence that a shooting occurred but no victims were located.
Police recovered at least four shell casings as they set up a crime scene to gather further evidence to support a motive.
The shooting remains under investigation.
