Investigators from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a fatal shooting that left a 27-year-old woman dead at a bar in Paterson last night.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at Andy's Bar, located at 77 North 7th St., at approximately 11:15 p.m.
Arriving units found two people - a man in his 30’s and a 27-year-old Nijatolle Simms - suffering from gunshot wounds at that location, according to police.
Simms was pronounced dead at the scene while the second victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
According to authorities, a man reportedly walked into the bar and began firing multiple rounds of bullets into the establishment before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
