A fatal overnight shooting that happened in the city has authorities investigating.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 100 block of Plainfield Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. where arriving units located the male victim unconscious and unresponsive suffering injury from apparent gunfire.
The victim, reported to be around the age of 19-years old, was pronounced dead a short time after authorities found him according to reports.
Authorities set up a crime scene where they searched for evidence and a possible suspect.
The motive for the shooting and the identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation.
