Detective for the Union County Prosecutor's Office are investigating a shooting that left one person dead near a housing complex on the Linden-Roselle border.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 45 Garden Drive just before midnight.
Arriving Linden and Roselle officers canvassed the scene and found evidence that shooting occurred when they came across a house struck by bullets on the Linden side of the border but after a search of the area, a severely injured male was found on the Roselle side of the crime scene according to police.
Officials say the unidentified victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police taped off the area and canvassed the area for evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
There were no other injuries reported.
