Authorities in Roselle are investigating a shooting that left two people injured overnight in the city.
Several rounds of gunfire rang out at approximately 10 p.m. in front of 385 East 9th Avenue sending police with mutual assistance from other towns to the scene where officers located two people suffering multiple gunshot wounds. According to police, both victims were sitting on the front steps of the residence when shots rang out.
EMS rushed both of the victims to University Hospital in Newark, where their injuries were only reported to be serious as of early this morning.
During the course of the investigation, three handguns were recovered and as many as nine shell casings were found.
According to police, the investigation is ongoing and names of the victims will not be released at this time. However, according to residents in the area, one of the victims is a male around the age of 30-years-old.
