Newark Police are actively investigating a shooting that took place outside a Dunkin Donuts in the city's North Ward on Wednesday evening.The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at 750 Broadway when a ShotSpotter device alerted authorities to gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, police units discovered shell casings scattered near the Dunkin Donuts, although thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The suspect responsible for the shooting managed to flee the scene and remains at large.
Authorities quickly secured and taped off the vicinity to facilitate a thorough investigation, with the crime scene unit arriving to assist.
The motive behind the shooting is still unclear, leaving detectives working to piece together the events that led to this public disturbance.
