Police in Newark are investigating an overnight shots-fired incident outside a Central Ward movie theater that resulted in property damage but no reported injuries.
According to initial reports, gunfire rang out near the CityPlex 12 Newark movie theater at 394 Springfield Avenue around 12:20 a.m. on Monday.
Officers arrived at the scene and located several shell casings, prompting them to tape off the area for further investigation.
After canvassing the theater’s parking lot and surrounding neighborhood, police discovered a vehicle struck by bullets.
Fortunately, the car was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities have not announced any arrests, and the suspect remains at large.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
