Linden police are investigating a shots fired incident that took place outside a popular restaurant in the city just after midnight on Saturday.
According to preliminary reports, officers were called to Applebee’s, located at 671 West Edgar Road, after receiving reports of gunfire in the parking lot.
When police arrived, they found evidence confirming that a shooting had occurred and immediately taped off the area to begin an investigation.
Although no victims were located at the scene, witnesses told officers that two males wearing dark clothing were seen fleeing the area.
After a brief foot pursuit, officers detained one individual who matched the suspects’ description. Authorities believe one additional suspect is still at large.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
