Authorities in Newark are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the city's South Ward on Saturday night.
The situation happened shortly before 11 p.m. when a ShotSpotter device detected gunshots in the vicinity of 131 Seymour Avenue.
Upon receiving the alert, officers swiftly responded to the scene.
They discovered spent shell casings, suggesting that firearms had been discharged. However, following a thorough canvass of the area, no gunshot victims were found.
What authorities did uncover was an unoccupied vehicle that bullets had struck.
The suspect responsible for the gunfire fled the scene and currently remains at large.
The motive behind this incident is still under active investigation as authorities work to piece together the events that transpired.
