Police reported no injuries in a shots-fired incident that erupted on the Newark-Irvington border Tuesday night.
According to police, a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire on South 20th Street around 9:25 p.m.
When Newark officers arrived at the scene, they found evidence that a shooting occurred after they found shell casings just south of South 20th Street.
A thorough search of the border revealed no victims or suspects, according to police.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
