Police took several people into custody overnight after gunfire erupted on the first night of the annual State Fair in East Rutherford.
Reports of shots fired had police rushing to a section of the amusement park at around 11:30 p.m. where upon their quick arrival, police located shells casings and over a hundred carnival goers running from the scene.
There were no reports of anyone struck by bullets, but EMS treated at least one person for a nose injury according to preliminary reports.
Police detained about four people as they set up a crime scene and launched an investigation into the motive for the shooting.
Officials and police immediately evacuated the fair.
