A violent few days of shootings in parts of Newark that resulted in four people killed and at least one other injured had police responding to another shots-fired incident Thursday evening.
Residents at 250 Irvine Turner Boulevard ducked for cover after gunfire rang out near their building around 5:55 p.m.
A ShotSpotter device activated in the area after gunfire rang out, prompting a police investigation.
Upon arrival, officers found several shell casings, but after canvassing the scene, no injuries were reported.
Police placed hospitals in the region on alert for potential walk-in gunshot victims.
The suspect fled the scene and no arrests have been reported.
