In Newark’s South Ward, multiple vehicles were damaged Wednesday evening after a gunman fired several rounds, striking parked cars.According to preliminary reports, a ShotSpotter device activated around 7:15 p.m., alerting police to gunfire in the vicinity of Ingraham Place and Clinton Avenue.
When police units arrived, they secured the area and discovered several vehicles damaged by bullet holes.
A thorough search confirmed no occupants were inside the vehicles at the time of the shooting.
Witnesses reported that the suspected gunman fled the scene in a light-colored vehicle, possibly a Hyundai.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine a motive, and the suspect remains at large.
