Grocery Store Robbery Suspect Apprehended in Newark

A man wanted for a armed robbery over the summer has been arrested by Newark Police.

According to authoritiesthe Fugitive Apprehension Team has arrested Tarrance T. Atkins, 22, of Newark for the grocery store robbery that occurred on Sunday, July 24, 2016.

Authorities said at approximately 2:10 p.m., two male suspects, wearing masks and brandishing handguns, walked into the Quality Grocery & Deli located at 310 Renner Avenue demanding money.

The suspects stole cash and fled the area on foot.

As a result of their investigation, robbery detectives determined that Tarrance T. Atkins is a suspect in this robbery.

After obtaining an arrest warrant, detectives arrested Atkins on November 29, 2016 without incident authorities said.

He is charged with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Conspiracy.

The second suspect remains at large.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
