The Great Oaks Legacy Charter School (GOLCS), which is currently serving 1900 students in Pre-K through 12th grade, across campuses in the Central and South Wards of Newark, will open its third elementary campus, the Fairmount Heights Elementary School Campus, at 308 S. 9th Street in Newark.
The newly renovated building, located near the corner of South Orange Avenue, has a rich history, having previously been occupied for over 25 years by the Chad School.
This fall, Great Oaks Legacy will open the doors of its brand new campus to students in grades Kindergarten to 1st Grade.
In addition, the existing Fairmount Heights Middle School campus will temporarily co-locate at the S. 9th Street building as GOLCS breaks ground on the middle school’s brand new West Ward building, just blocks away from the former Chad building.
Great Oaks Legacy is a free college-prep charter school with a focus on high-quality instruction, combined with daily tutoring, and world-class educators who provide the support students need to improve and thrive. GOLCS is now enrolling Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 5th grade students for fall 2021.
