A 26-year-old North Bergen man is in custody after stabbing his 73-year-old grandmother to death, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office announced.
North Bergen police responded to a 9th Street home Wednesday shortly after 7 a.m., for a report of a disturbance at a home.
Upon arrival, police found Ramila Patel, 73, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the torso.
She was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 8 a.m.
According to officials, Jaydeep Patel, 26, (the woman's grandson), was arrested and charged with murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and unlawful possession of a weapon.
No additional details were released as to what led to the attack or when the suspect would be appearing in Central Judicial Processing court in Hudson County.
