Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said three people were indicted by a grand jury in Middlesex County today on charges for their involvement in the fatal shooting of a New Brunswick man.
According to police, Michael Martin a/k/a “Maniac”, 26, and Rayshawn Riddick, 31, both of Newark, and Dianna Williams, 26, of New Brunswick were charged in a five-count indictment in the murder of Hakeem Williams, 31, of New Brunswick on August 18, 2017. Martin and Riddick were both charged with one count of murder in the first degree and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree.
In addition, Michael Martin was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon in the first degree and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the second degree. Dianna Williams has been charged with hindering the prosecution of another in the third degree.
In a separate indictment, Martin was charged with being a certain person not to have firearm in the second degree.
The indictment was handed up following a presentation to the grand jury by Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Bina Desai and Assistant Prosecutor Anny Lopez.
New Brunswick Police were alerted to the shooting by a 911 call from an area resident and arrived to find the victim deceased inside his car on Fulton Street.
An extensive search for the suspects included the coordinated efforts of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Brunswick Police Department, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the FBI Task Force.
Police arrested Rayshawn Riddick, 31, of Newark, in New Brunswick on September 14, 2017. Michael Martin fled after the murder and remained a fugitive until he was apprehended in Philadelphia by members of the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department on October 23, 2017.
The investigation is active and continuing.
