Governor Murphy has issued a stern warning, advising residents to "stay off the roads or take mass transit" in anticipation of a challenging morning commute.
The forecast predicts a messy transition from rain to snow during the morning rush, significantly heightening the risk of treacherous road conditions.
As of 3:45 a.m., the Hudson Valley is experiencing a mix of rain and snow, with light snowfall beginning to blanket grassy areas and car tops in Harrison and Kearny, NJ.
In Newark, temperatures hover just above the freezing point at 34 degrees, setting the stage for a significant snow event.
The National Weather Service forecasts snow, mainly before 1 p.m., with the potential for heavy bursts. The day's high is expected to reach near 35 degrees, with wind chill values dipping between 20 and 25.
