There were no criminal charges filed against the parent of a child who was found wandering on a street in Newark on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, at approximately 2:45 p.m. yesterday, a male good Samaritan located a child walking alone in the area of Central Avenue and South 12th Street.
Police officials say the man took the child -around 3-years-old- into a nearby laundromat and called the police. EMS also responded and found the girl uninjured then returned the child to her mother at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the child apparently walked outside the residence unnoticed.
Police closed the investigation.
